House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 6 is the slow burn that I was expecting with some sparks in the fire.
In episode six House of The Dragon remains unswerving to its deliberate rhythm bringing the audience an episode that doesn’t roughly mimic a hard-battle, but who’s very much a game of tactics. Even if the episode doesn’t open to action, it supplies susceptible formations that build up the horizon of a probable big bang.Loose political plots are still present, although this time there is a primary focus on the characters; Mysaria teams up with Rhaenyra. In this episode, the dynamic of their relationship is mastered in presenting the balance between admiration and rivalry. Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy give good performances and the chemistry between them can be felt as the two characters develop from simple business partners to something more.
That is why the attempts to ride a dragon become the best part, which is a mixture of thriller and sad history. New characters’ integration such as Ser Steffon Darklyn contributes to the series’ development and suggests possible tensions in the near future. Still, the overall impression of stagnation remains, characters are waiting for the war to begin, it is in the air, but not yet here.
Even if Episode 6 may annoy spectators who are eager to see the actions start as soon as possible, it is quite important to consider the essential establishment of certain components to the show’s overall plot. The formation of possibilities set in this episode could well produce a grand payoff or a great payoff in the following episodes.
All in all, House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 6 is a slow game which dish out characters’ growth and tactics. Compared to the previous seasons, it may be missing the extremely intense action; however, it nicely paves the path for the final episode.
